Mark has achieved international acclaim and won numerous awards in both his native Canada and the United States. A dedicated painter, Mark Lague was born in Lachine, Quebec in 1964. He has been fascinated by drawing since childhood, a skill he continues to practice to this day. After graduating from Concordia University in Montreal with a degree in design, Mark began a 13-year career in the animation industry, working primarily as a background designer and art director. During this time, although he worked full time, he began to receive international acclaim for his watercolours through competitions, juried exhibitions and solo shows. In 2000, Mark switched to oil as his primary medium, and in 2002 he became a full-time painter. What excites him about painting is his relentless pursuit of simplification and the essence of what he is painting. Mark has been featured in many national art magazines and continues to receive international recognition for his distinctive painting style.
