Darrell began his career working as an illustrator. He had the opportunity to work with seasoned senior illustrators. It was at this time that he began to pursue a second vocation as an artist. His career began in 1987, after winning two national stamp competitions for Minnesota and Idaho. In 1989, he began his career as a full-time painter.
His work has been recognized by art publications as, among others, USArt magazine named him rising star in 1995 and Inform Art magazine named him one of the top ten most popular new artists in 1994.
Wilderness Art is the term that best describes the work of Darrell Bush. Darrell has always shown a keen interest in the history and rich traditions of human involvement in nature. Light plays a preponderant role throughout all its art, whether artificial or natural, through the atmosphere it creates and the history it helps to transmit.
